Superb teaching

Last evening, I attended Prof. Wang Gangwu's lecture on Lim Boon Keng's mindscape as both a Nanyang Chinese, as well as his identity with the British government.

Now, have to reset my gyro on my understanding of 'Nanyang Chinese', 'Transnationalism', 'Pre-nationalism'

Students are adorable. Argue!

Students' works bring me lots of laughters. Few days back, I received in my inbox these few creative answers.

This is what happened when an AEP student is forced to do maths.

So, teachers will encourage students to TRY TRY TRY... After some trying, this possibly hardworking AEP student will give answers as such ...

Of course, there are always lazy pupils around. However, students who have not studied for their tests will be so fos while their classmates are scribbling ferociously on the paper. Such as ...

Subsequently, teachers have to check the progress as the students sit there and listen (or daydream)

I am sure this teacher is glad that he/she does not have me in the class. Possibly I would have given him/her some thing similiar. Hahaha... Anyway, I emphathize with him/her.

Personally, I like this answer for this biology question.

Seriously, why go through the laborious process when there are simpler and more effective ways to derive answers? I would have answered in the same manner. Maybe more crudely-phrased. :p
Anyway, there is a kind of love-hate relationship with some students which simply put ... fun to have them around but not exactly pleasant to teach. These are the ones who will give you this kind of answers.

Some tickling ones which I peeped at when I was doing invigilation:

1. How can you tell whether a fish is fresh? (3 marks) [Sec 1 Food and Nutrition paper]
Answer: It looks good, smells good and tastes good.

2 What are the differences of a cooked and uncooked egg? (2 marks)
Answer: One can be eaten and not the other.

These two boys were frequent clients to the discipline room in my previous school. I must admit, although I had to 'give-it-to-them' as a discipline teacher, I enjoy having them around in my class. They being so fos always inject laughters in my class...

An argument is valid if, and only if, there is no logically possible situation in which all of its premises are true and its conclusion false.

An argument is sound if, and only if, it is valid, and has all true premises.

This is an English website. So fear not!

en-suite somemore。

It is not easy being a billingual Chinese Language teacher here in Singapore.

If you are billingual, you are a show-off.
If you are monolingual, you are a failed product of the billingual education system here in SG. Wadda...

If you are a Chinese teacher, you are expected to speak good Mandarin, and somehow, people in general, expect the same tongue to be unable to pronounce the English words.

If, you are able to express yourself decently well in English, people will start to question HOW GOOD YOUR CHINESE IS.

It is like ... &OI^&$&I^?!

So Chinese teachers are the least expected to be an English emcee. Chinese teachers MUST be hopelessly monolingual and be a Chink inside-out.

THEN, I wonder why these people stare at me as if I am the red-ass primate.
